Just wanted to give a huge congratualations to Brisbane boy Kalin Thompson who recently won the Footlocker Art Prize. What this means is Kalin walked away with $50,001! If the name sounds familiar it’s probably because this talented young lad won our Design a 574 competition we ran with New Balance back at the 2010 Swap & Cop. Late last year we wished Kalin well on his endeavours as he was most definitely going somewhere and look at him now!

The mag history goes a little like this: In August, 2010, the idea for BUCKETS: The Book of Basketball Goodness was hatched on the back of LeBron James’ decision to relocate his talents (to the Miami Heat) and Michael Jordan’s arrival as a pixel God (NBA 2K11). The plan became simple — deliver a printed bookends to the basketball season. With that, BUCKETS was born as a boutique magazine, catering for hoop and sneaker fans in the Australian marketplace and beyond.

So, after the Swap and Cop last Saturday, a few of us had dinner and then ended up at mine for après dinner whiskeys. A guy I’d met earlier that night saw my collection of “Fucked Pp Blind Kids” hand boards sans ‘High Guy’, we got to talking and it turned out he had the full set, signed by the artist. I immediately jumped on the chance to ask him to sell them to me, and here they are.  They aren’t signed by (Mark Mckee) who did the original graphic, but instead, by the other legendary World Industries artist Sean Cliver. Either way, I’m stoked to have the full set now.
